QNP on the Road — A week that confirms the transformation is well underway

During the first week of December 2025, when government consultations on the evolution of climate targets had just concluded, the discussions on the ground confirmed one thing: organizations are already in execution mode. The signals observed in companies and economic networks clearly show that the transformation to a low-carbon economy is underway.

- High-level exchanges on energy and decarbonisation
At the Canadian Club of Montreal, we had the privilege of sitting at the head table during a major panel bringing together leading decision-makers in the energy sector Accelerating Decarbonization: How to Transform the Way We Do Things in Quebec. The findings were clear: Quebec must build on its heritage and assets to assert its leadership in the energy transition. Innovation, collaboration and collective courage are powerful levers for rethinking the way we do things.

- Strategic Engagement at the conVERTgence Committee
That same afternoon, we took part in the conVERTgence advisory committee of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal (CCMM), under the co-chairmanship of Grégoire Baillargeon, President of BMO Financial Group for Quebec, and Isabelle Dessureault, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CCMM, in order to plan the next conVERTgence Forum, to which the city’s businesses will be invited to discuss business opportunities to be seized in connection with the transition towards a decarbonised economy.

- Launch of new ISO standards for biodiversity
The next day, we had the privilege of contributing to a panel organized by Finance Montréal and Ateliers pour la biodiversité, on the occasion of the launch of the new ISO standards in biodiversity, including the Biodiversity Net Gain standard, which provides a better understanding of how to implement projects that contribute to ecosystem restoration. The launch of these new standards is a structuring step to acquire a better capacity to integrate issues of nature into the performance of organizations.

- Integration of climate issues in the development of engineers’ skills
The next day, we were in the studio to record our conference “Acting at key moments for climate action in business,” which will now be integrated into the continuing education curriculum of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. Another demonstration that skills related to climate transformation are becoming essential professional expectations.

- Public Policy and Clean Energy: Groundwork
On Friday, it was the meeting of the Clean Growth Expert Panel of the Canadian Climate Institute, on which sits Anne-Josée Laquerre, CEO and co-initiator of QNP, which looks at the public policies needed to accelerate the transformation towards a decarbonized energy supply. A clear reminder: structuring decisions must keep pace with innovation on the ground.
- Training Path in Governance and Climate Risks
We concluded the week with our colleagues at the Canadian Climate Law Initiative, finalizing the preparation of the CPQ’s Climate Governance and Risk Training Pathway. A key message is at the heart of this program: A climate risk is also a business risk.
The first cohort (March 2026) is already full, and registration for the April–May 2026 cohort will open soon. SMEs are in proactive mode: they want to anticipate, manage and transform. The demand is real.
Conclusion — Transformation does not wait. Neither do we.
On the road, in studios, on boardrooms, on industry panels or strategy committees, one thing is clear: the transformation to a low-carbon economy is underway, and it is accelerating thanks to strong alliances, strengthened capacities and a collective will to act.
QNP will continue to be on the ground training, equipping and connecting those who are already driving this transformation.
